Captain America is Good for Business; here’s why…

Pep Squad, there is a glimmer of hope in me that believes some DC Comics fans will accept the following message. In full disclosure, I am a die-hard Marvel fan and Captain America is the best thing since sliced bread. On the verge of Marvel Studio’s release of Black Panther

next week, I took to studying the link between two of my favorite things – superheroes and “improving communities one small business at a time.”

According to Marvel, Captain America is the epitome of super intelligence, agility, strength, speed, endurance, and reaction time.

His commitment to a disciplined, rigorous, daily exercise routine results in nearly non-stop peak performance. His squad includes the Avengers and Redeemers, plus a host of other affiliates that don’t impress me enough to mention here. Can you draw any parallels between his awesomeness and your approach to business planning? You don’t have to be a superhero to launch a superior business, but it can’t hurt to develop similar qualities to this Sentinel of Liberty. Such as:

  • thirst for knowledge
  • cleverness/mental dexterity
  • toughness and resilience
  • immediacy (make a decision already!)
  • stick-to-it-ive-ness and determination
  • be responsive
  • get a squad (support network, village, etc.)
  • choose your weapon (aka Your Shield) – okay, this one needs some explanation. This is not an endorsement of an actual weapon or brute force. Rather, this character point is actually listed to prompt you to protect your business with patents, trademarks, copyrights, etc. Be smart and protect your assets.

Being a business-superhero is just one way you can improve your community. And if it means you can play dress up and do a little cosplay along the way, well then, hey, have a little fun with it. So, if not, Captain America, what superhero do you relate to most?

A wonderful husband, Ken; 5 children (4 are grown – we’re in the homestretch); 2 grand princesses; a big dog and a gigantic goldfish, complete me.
